The Automobile & Touring Club of the United Arab Emirates (ATCUAE) has announced the commencement of the FIA endorsed “E-Permits” project for motorsports events’ organizers in the UAE.

With more than 140 motorsports events per year in the UAE, and in line with the Government’s strategy to digitalise all its services, Mr. Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the Automobile and Touring Club in the UAE  and Vice President of the FIA, decided to transform the event permits process fully into a digital process, by creating a new system that will have a significant impact on the organizational resources and the general competencies of the club and the organizers of motorsports events in the UAE.

Prior to organizing any event related to motorsports within the UAE, organizers must obtain a permit from the ATCUAE, the sole representative of the  Federation International del’ Automobile (FIA) in the UAE. The related administrative process is labour intensive and therefore time-consuming, especially when one considers the various categories of motorsport events, its multiple locations, required documents, such as insurance policies, maps, users details, and others. The new system will also facilitate secure online payment through full compatibility with the PCI-DSS standards.

The smart “E-permit” application will make it easier for all organizers of motorsports events to provide the ATCUAE with the necessary documents to speed up the approval process, which significantly reduces time and cost for both parties. The new system is scheduled to be launched later this year.

Amongst a large number of international technology companies, ATCUAE had selected the Irish technology firm ActionPoint which operates in Ireland, USA, and the UK, with their award-winning system that renews passports via the Internet on behalf of the Irish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The selection was an easy process, promising the potential to succeed in this project.

The agreement was signed between Mr. Mohammed Bin Sulayem, ATCUAE  and ActionPoint’s CTO and Co-Founder John Savage on the 27th of January 2019.

Ben Sulayem, confirmed that as soon as the system is fully operational in the UAE, it will be deployed across the Middle East and North Africa region next year.

He also commented:

ِ”At the ATCUAE, we always make sure to keep up with technologies that provide the best solutions for all requirements. E-permit is one of the projects that reaffirms our constant endeavor to provide the best services to save everyone time and effort whilst keeping in mind the sustainability of the resources.”
