FIA Institute Academy

Starting in 2011, the FIA Institute, which is the education division of the governing body of world motorsport, has run a Young Driver Excellence Academy. Like UAE Motorsport Star, the FIA Institute aims to prepare young drivers to compete at the pinnacle of the sport, and does so through the delivery of six separate training workshops at locations around Europe for a period of three to five days each. The FIA Institute Young Driver Excellence Academy is being led by former Formula One star and two-time Le Mans winner Alex Wurz and former World Rally Championship winning co-driver Robert Reid. In its first year the Academy selected 12 drivers to take part, with at least one driver chosen from each of the following five regions: North, Central and South America; Western and Northern Europe; Central and Eastern Europe; Middle East and Africa; Asia and Oceania.
